Slip and Fall at Shopping Mall - $150,000 Settlement

Our premises liability team obtained a $150,000 settlement for our client, who was walking through a shopping mall on crutches due to knee surgery, slipped and fell on a walkway in front of a restaurant entrance. The area walkway was saturated with water and was crossed by a ramp which was difficult for pedestrians to see.

Moreover, the surface of the walkway had been painted so that it was slippery when wet. Our client suffered injuries to her shoulder as well as both knees in the fall. The shopping mall owner maintained that the mall was not responsible for the accident and that her knee problems were the result of a series of previous injuries and operations on both knees.

Our medical and reconstruction experts showed that the condition of the walkway was the result of our client’s fall. Our team secured a recovery of $150,000 for our client at mediation.
